Life-Changing Power (John 14:15-21, Ephesians 3:16-19, Hebrews 4:12)

Dick Beaumont, March 12, 2017
Part of the The Holy Spirit series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

John 14:15-21; Ephesians 3:16-19; Hebrews 4:12. Just reading a financial book is not going to give us financial success, just as reading the bible is not going to change our lives. We have to appropriately apply it and put forth effort in the choices we make if we want to see change happen. We need the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit in our lives but He will not force Himself upon us. Join Pastor Dick Beaumont in this sermon that encourages us to invite the Holy Spirit in and surrender to Him.

John 14:15-21

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” (ESV)

Ephesians 3:16-19

16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (ESV)

Hebrews 4:12

12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (ESV)
